    Description

    1936 Norfolk Commemorative Silver Half Dollar certified NGC MS65.   Do not be deceived thinking this one is not worthy of a far higher grade.  The coin is spectacular and easily equal to many MS67s on Ebay !!    In 1987 NGC started as a competition to PCGS (which had started a year earlier in 1986).   Its purpose in 1987 was to initially set very strict grading standards and surpass PCGS as the industry leader.  Many if not most coins graded in that first year of 1987 are way undergraded by todays standards which is why you will seldom see this 1936 Norfolk offered in an original 1st generation 1987 holder.   Most all have been cracked out and re-submitted for much higher grades.    If you like to collect eye appealing true GEMS and want coins in the 1st generation NGC holders, this one is a perfect example to have.
